Four Suspected Terrorists Arraigned Before Abeokuta Magistrate Court
Four suspected terrorists have been arraigned before an Abeokuta Chief Magistrate Court in the Ogun State capital.
The suspects arraigned by the Department of State Service (DSS) are Aliu Abubakar, Abubakar Usman, Abubakar Adamu and Adamu Aliu.
DSS prosecuting counsel, Emmanuel Zamba, told the court that the suspected terrorists were arrested on December 9, 2022. He did not state where they were arrested.
The DSS prosecuting counsel in a motion with a five paragraph affidavit, filed last March 11, said they were arrested for kidnapping and terrorism.
The security agency asked the court to remand the suspects in a custodial centre for 30 days, pending the determination of the suit.
The chief magistrate M. Sonbajo granted application to remand the suspects. He adjourned hearing till April 17 for the further instructions from the security agency.
Meanwhile, The Ogun State High Court will go on the 2023 Easter Vacation as from April 6. The court will resume on April 21, 2023.
Normal court sitting will resume on April 24, 2023. The state chief judge, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu announced this in a notice issued by the acting chief registrar of the State High Court, Mr a Ojikutu.
She said that trial of civil actions would be discontinued within the period of the vacation.
During the period, criminal matters would be taken, while urgent civil matters would be heard only by leave on the application of both parties or their counsel.
